News! - The
next
Meeting will be held on FRIDAY, September 19th at 7:00pm
- At CITY JAKES CAFE. The final
tournament of the 2008 season will be held on
Saturday, September 20th at
the Oxbow Section of the CT River. It is
hard to believe the last tournament of the year is
upon us! It has been a great year with a lot
of BIG bass caught by practically every team.
The race for points has really heated up with G.
McClarran and City Jake on top of the points
race. With G. McClarran coming off a win at
Bantam, this could be a real close finish decided by
only ounces!
Late
September can be an absolutely great time for
fishing the river. The smallies start
moving back down towards the dam and largies begin
to gorge themselves before the the cold weather
hits and the water temperature really starts to
plumit. So what will be the winning pattern
on the river in late September? Will it be
power fishing with a spinnerbait, working it down
the banks for some crushing smallie action? Or -
will it be working the wood and going after both
smallies and largies with a jig bite? Don't
rule out the Oxbow itself, this can be a real
productive time of the year for the oxbow and
slamming them on those crankbaits. The fall
is a notorious time of the year for a great
crankbait bite as both largies and smallies are
chasing shad. Congratulations
to all the winning teams of the 2008 season! Also
a BIG thanks to City Jake and J. Ryan for letting
us use their facilities for meetings. Both
meeting locations are great and very much
appreciated by the club members. The
Alliance truly has a great membership that keeps
on the tradition of sharing information and always
helping fellow members become better bass
fisherman.
